Learning outcomes
On successful completion of the course, the student should be able to:
- have knowledge of the applications of batteries and the choices made related to the choice of battery materials and cell design
- have knowledge of how the battery value chain is structured
Contents
In this course the student will get a broad and industrial understanding of the lithium-ion battery value chain all the way from mining and raw materials to end use and recycling. The course form is workshop-based, where a total of 6 full day workshops will be held with specific topic for each workshop. In each workshop, the students will get presentation from industrial actors in the value chain, and there will also be arrange excursion to visit relevant companies. The student will work on a report through the semester which will be the baseline for the final evaluation.
Workshop overview:
1. Materials for lithium-ion batteries
2. Battery cell design/requirements
3. Battery cell manufacturing
4. Battery packs and applications
5. Recycling and reuse
6. Summary of course and presentation of reports
