Contents

The master´s thesis is an independent research work within a subject didactic theme in food and health aimed at level 5-10 in primary and lower secondary school. The thesis must be professional and practice oriented. The work is done in consultation with an appointed supervisor, who must approve the research question. The student is assigned a supervisor based on a project description.

Teaching and learning methods

Supervision will take place in seminar groups with compulsory attendance. The students present their project sketch, 1. and 2. draft for their fellow students. Everybody accepts and gives feed-back on the respective drafts. The students can ask for individual guidance/supervision towards the end of the work on the thesis. Supervision contract between the student and the supervisor (tutor) must be completed. See further description in the supervision contract and semester plan.

Expected student work load for the subject is a minimum of 800 hours.

Examination requirements

  • approved participation in compulsory guidance/supervision
  • approved and signed supervision contract. The conditions in the supervision contract must be fulfilled

Examinations

The master´s thesis can be written individually or by two together. Scope 16000-24000 words (20000-24000 words if written by two). It is also possible with forms of documentation and presentation that combine different media (writing, picture, film, sound). In such cases, the form and scope are agreed upon with the supervisor.

The exam is in two parts. The written thesis is graded, and the grade is given to both if written by two together. The grade can be adjusted one grade up or down for each student after the oral exam.

Student evaluation

The person responsible for the course, in consultation with the student representative, decides the method of evaluation and whether the courses will have a midterm- or end of term evaluation, see also the Quality System, section 4.1. Information about evaluation method for the course will be posted on Canvas.
