Table of contents
The course is connected to the following study programs
- Electronics and Electrical Engineering, Bachelor's Programme
Teaching language
Norwegian
Prerequisites
ELE113-G Circuit Analysis and ELE114-G Electronic Circuits or the equivalent.
Learning outcomes
After completing the course, the student should be able to both analyse and design a variety of electronic circuits involving common semiconductor components. This includes finding vital information from datasheets, perform calculations and simulations, and make well-founded choices. The student should also be able to build such circuits in the lab, and use common lab-equipment for testing, taking measurements and troubleshooting.
Contents
Applications of diodes, BJT and MOSFET transistors. SPICE simulation. Linear and nonlinear opamp circuits. Sensors and instrumentation amplifiers. A/D- and D/A-converters. Noise in circuits. Linear and Switched Voltage Converters. Interface between circuits. Applications of Laplace transforms and transfer functions. Analog filters. Negative feedback and stability. Oscillators and phase-locked loops. Basic modulation and radio communication. Temperature management and cooling.
Teaching and learning methods
Lectures, theory exercises and laboratory assignments. Laboratory tasks as well as some of the theoretical assignments are mandatory. The results of all laboratory tasks are to be presented and demonstrated in the laboratory. Work on laboratory tasks takes place at the electronics laboratory and is done under the supervision of laboratory personnel, student assistant and/or subject teachers in groups of a maximum of 3 students. Training is provided in the use of subject-related software and hardware.
Expected workload for the average student: 270 hours.
Examination requirements
The compulsory theory- and laboratory assignments must be approved in order to take the examination. Information about the compulsory assignments is given in Canvas at the start of the semester.
Examinations
4 hours individual written examination. Graded assessment.
Student evaluation
The person responsible for the course decides, in cooperation with student representative, the form of student evaluation and whether the course is to have a midway or end of course evaluation in accordance with the quality system for education, chapter 4.1.
Offered as a free-standing course
Yes
Admission Requirement if given as a free-standing course
Higher Education Entrance Qualification including mathematics R1 and R2 and physics Fysikk 1, or a pass in the preliminary course examination for engineers (which is also offered at University of Agder).
