Learning outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- demonstrate insights into fundamental concepts of e-commerce and its role in strategy and business
- understand basic uses of e-commerce
- plan for and promote a simple e-commerce idea in an organization
- evaluate and adapt the interaction between business plan and e-commerce idea
Contents
The course introduces basic concepts in e-commerce. Emphasis is placed on students becoming aware of the importance of e-commerce in society in relation to technology, organization and society. Through group work, the students will prepare a business plan and marketing material related to a specific business idea that the students themselves have developed.
Teaching and learning methods
The course is organized with a mixture of lectures, digital teaching activities, and group work. The students will immerse themselves in a self-chosen e-commerce project. Organized teaching is normally given in the form of two hours of class activities and two hours of group work per week. Estimated workload is 10 hours per week per student.
Examination requirements
Mandatory group presentations must be completed and passed. Dates for the mandatory group presentations will be published in Canvas at the start of the semester.

Groupwise portfolio assessment with individual grades, A-F.
Student evaluation
The person responsible for the course decides, in cooperation with student representative, the form of student evaluation and whether the course is to have a midway or end of course evaluation in accordance with the quality system for education, chapter 4.1.
