  • Have knowledge of the mechanical properties of wood and its factors (moisture, load-duration, defects, volume effect, etc.)
  • Have knowledge of design of mechanical connections in wood
  • Be able to evaluate the advantages and disadvantages of using wood in load-bearing structures
  • Be able to calculate load effects for statically specific wood structures
  • Be able to calculate short and long-term deformations in basic wood elements
  • Be able to verify the load capacity of wood elements such as beams, frames, and plates
  • Be able to verify the capacity of basic mechanical connections in wood
  • Be able to design a bracing system in multi-story wood buildings
  • Be able to design wood floors in relation to requirements for natural frequency
