Learning outcomes
Upon completion of the course, students will be capable of the following:
- describe various aspects of Norwegian society from both historical and contemporary perspectives
- analyse different explanations regarding developments in Norway
- describe similarities and differences between society and culture in Norway and in the student’s home country
- distinguish between political, economic, cultural and environmental factors when certain societal systems are delineated and discussed

Contents
A survey of Norwegian history, the Norwegian school system, Norwegian language and literature, Norwegian society - economy and politics, Norwegian culture with an emphasis on music, art and religion in Norway
Examinations
5-hour written examination. Graded assessment.
Student evaluation
The study programme manager, in consultation with the student representative, decides the method of evaluation and whether the courses will have a midterm- or end of term evaluation, see also the Quality System, section 4.1.
