Learning outcomes

Upon successful completion of the course, students will:
  • be able to describe the foundation for nursing as a profession and occupation
  • have knowledge about human beings¿ basic needs and insight in professional nursing problems when health failure influences the needs
  • have knowledge about patients¿ and relatives¿ experience of and reactions to illness and suffering
  • have insight in the role of the nurse in the cooperation with patients and relatives
  • be able to give an account of principles of hygiene, infection prevention and infection control
  • have knowledge about clinical assessment processes and problem solving in nursing
  • have knowledge about documentation in nursing
  • ha knowledge about the handling of drugs
  • be able to describe ethical and legal aspects of the professional secrecy
  • be able to apply professional knowledge and give reasons for their choices

A graded 5-hour individual written examination.

Student evaluation

The study programme manager, in consultation with the student representative, decides the method of evaluation and whether the courses will have a midterm- or end of term evaluation, see also the Quality System, section 4.1.
