The course requires an introductory course in project work/project management equivalent to IS-304 Bachelor Thesis in Information Systems

Learning outcomes

Upon successful completion of the course, students will:
  • give an account of projects as organisational forms
  • participate actively in establishing a project organization, analyse and relate projects to the organisational context where the project work must take place.
  • use central techniques for managing scope, time, cost, human resources, quality, risk and procurement
  • participate actively in planning, reporting and managing the development of a project
  • reflect over own project work and suggest improvements

  • Organization types and coordination mechanisms in organizations.
  • Initiating, planning, executing, monitoring/controlling and closing projects.
  • Managing scope, time, cost, human resources, quality, risk and procurement.

Teaching and learning methods

Organized teaching is usually given as seminars with lectures, case studies and student presentations. Some of the teaching is compulsory, announced at semester start. Normal workload for 10 ECTS is 13 hours per week.

Examination requirements

Passed mandatory assignments and mandatory participation in presentations.

Examinations

3 hours written examination that counts 60% and project report that accounts for 40% of the final grade. Both parts must be passed.

Student evaluation

The study programme manager, in consultation with the student representative, decides the method of evaluation and whether the courses will have a midterm- or end of term evaluation, see also the Quality System, section 4.1. Information about evaluation method for the course will be posted on Canvas.
