Learning outcomes

After completing the course the student should:

- Know the dimensions criteria and material properties of reinforced concrete; including border states and tension / strain relationships.

- Be able to design columns, beams, plates and simple foundations, including:

o Axial force, bending moment and shear force in the breaking limit state

o Deformations, shrinkage and creep in the usage limit state, as well as being able to carry out controls for cracking

- Have a basic understanding of slenderness and calculation of 2nd order moments for columns.

Contents

The course provides the basis for calculating and dimensioning slack-reinforced, site-cast concrete structures according to current regulations, where Eurocode 2 is central

Teaching and learning methods

Lectures, exercises and laboratory work.

Examination requirements

Students must pass the compulsory assignments in order to take the examination
