Counselling Service
At UiA, you can speak with a student chaplain or a student humanist on both campuses. They both have professional expertise and many years of experience in supporting people in different life situations. They are bound by confidentiality and do not keep records.
Nothing is too small or too big
Maybe you just need someone to think out loud with to sort your thoughts? It could be a worry, a difficult choice you need to make, or grief over someone you have lost or miss.
You choose who you want to talk to. The service is free and open to everyone.

Student Chaplain
Student Chaplain Erland Grøtberg is a reliable conversation partner who meets you where you are in life.
The starting point is your story about what it is like to be you. Together, we can reflect on your situation, put experiences into words, and search for hope, life skills, and opportunities to grow as a person.
The conversation can include everything that life involves. The chaplain approaches you with openness, interest, and respect for your story.
Erland is an ordained priest in the Church of Norway and has special competence in conversation, crisis management, grief, and life skills. The service is open to all.

Student Humanist
Student Humanist Dagfinn Ullestad values thoughtful and exploratory conversations.
Together, we can try to broaden perspectives, reveal more nuances, and find hope in what feels difficult.
Dagfinn has previously been a priest and prison chaplain. As a life guide with the Humanist Association, he has for many years been a conversation partner and promoter of dialogic meeting places, such as the Philosophy Pub in Kristiansand.
If you wish, we can also combine talking with a short walk or reflect together on a bench outside.
