– The feedback was overwhelmingly positive, and it seemed like everyone had a wonderful day. For us, nothing is more rewarding than seeing people enjoy themselves after months of hard work. With this, we say goodbye for now and look forward to seeing you next year, says Andrea Noche Ferreira, PhD student at the Department of Natural Sciences and event coordinator for the conference.

The goal of the conference was to highlight the latest advancements in coastal and marine research, explore career opportunities, and create a platform for networking and collaboration.

For three years, the Centre for Coastal Research (CCR) at UiA, in collaboration with the Department of Natural Sciences at UiA, has organized this annual one-day conference. The initiative aims to offer a diverse experience that combines professional development with scientific exploration.

The event serves both as a career-focused meeting point, with guest speakers from various organizations and companies in Agder, and as a scientific arena where research contributions from PhD candidates and master's students are presented. The topics range from scientific breakthroughs and conservation efforts to career guidance and personal stories of professional journeys.

– The day was dynamic, with the first surprise right at the entrance, where participants were greeted by Ruben with some skulls and live animals, he brought from Dyreparken. He truly captured everyone's attention, says Noche Ferreira.

Throughout the day, interactive sessions and mingling during coffee breaks and lunch encouraged networking across various academic levels.
