Background and experience

As curator of Zoology and Senior Researcher I have broad interest and background in ecology, movement ecology, population genetics and conservation of mammals throughout the world. I have strong foundation in fieldwork collecting my own data, which have included month longs stays in Southeast Asia, Mongolia, Tanzania and Panama. I value public outreach high as I find it imperative that the general public can access and understand why my work is important for them as well.

Education:

PhD in Biodiversity, from the Natural History Museum of Denmark, University of Copenhagen. Thesis title: Abundance and Ecology of Leopards (Panthera pardus) in the Udzungwa Mountains, Tanzania. Supervisors: Prof. Tom Gilbert, Prof. Nikolaj Scharff, and Dr Francesco Rovero. 10- month fieldwork camera trapping and sample colleting in Tanzania, and 2-month exchange with Biodiversity Lab North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences.

MSc in Science, from the Natural History Museum of Denmark, University of Copenhagen. Supervisor Prof. Tom Gilbert and Prof. Morten Tange Olsen.
Thesis title: Genetic Characterization of Northern Bottlenose Whale (Hyperoodon ampullatus). Including sampling specimens at four institutions, overall collaborating with 28 institutions.

Postgraduate Diploma of Science in Tropical Ecology and Conservation, James Cook University, Townsville and Cairns, Australia. One year study in Australia.

BSc in Science, Department of Biology, University of Copenhagen.
Thesis title: Conserving the Sumatran Rhino in Borneo, What Has Been Done and Where is it Heading. Supervisor Prof. Neil D. Burgess. 2-month research stay in Sabah, Malaysia, Borneo.
