Background and experience
I joined the University of Agder in 2025 and continue to hold a part-time associate professorship at the University of Gothenburg, where I have worked since 2020. Before that, I was a lecturer and senior lecturer at the University of Stirling in Scotland (2007–2020). I hold a PhD in biology from the University of Toronto and have held postdoctoral positions in Australia and Switzerland.

Research
I am an evolutionary biologist interested in how genetic variation persists in traits closely linked to survival and reproduction, despite the strong selection these traits often experience. My research examines how interactions between genes and environments shape variation in natural populations. I also apply evolutionary approaches to the sustainable control of agricultural insect pests, particularly the question of how resistance to biological control evolves.
