Background and experience

Ingrid Wangsvik started playing the piano at seven years of age, and picked up the clarinet at ten. She was very active in the local school band for the years and continued in an amateur wind band from age fifteen.

Around this time she started teaching young children to play the clarinet, and by 2020 she had been teaching for twenty-five years.

She continued her music education in Oslo, Norway, and in Rotterdam in the Netherlands, earning a double degree in music pedagogy.

Wangsvik now lives in Norway and works in one of the professional symphony orchestras, the Kristiansand Symphony orchestra, as co-principal clarinetist with E-flat.  She is also an active chamber musician. In addition, Ingrid Wangsvik teaches classical clarinet and chamber music at the University of Agder (UIA).
