Background and experience
Before entering higher education, I worked in the practical field of TV production. From 1994 to 2009, I was employed by Gimlekollen School of Journalism and Communication (now part of NLA University College). Since 2009, the University of Agder has been my main employer. I also hold a part-time position in the journalism, media and communications department at NLA University College.
Areas of responsibility
Although I have a background in practical TV production, I have worked mainly in academia since the mid-1990s. I have taught classes in journalism, media production and communication, and have held various roles, including study coordinator and head of department.
In terms of research, I have two main areas of interest. One is the intersection of media practice and digital culture in a religious context, which falls under the broader subject area of 'Religion and Media'. The other is journalism and communication programmes, and how these programmes can best prepare students for a career in the field.
Teaching
Most of my teaching has been related to media communication classes like:
- KOM114 Text and image
- KOM109 Digital presentation
- KOM206 Strategic communications
- KOM406 Strategic communication and new public spheres
I'm also supervising students who are working on their bachelor's or master's theses.
