Research
My research areas include how we can promote healthy dietary habits through interventions among children, adolescents and young adults, and how this is related to health outcomes later in life. Over the years, I have been working with school meals in relation to a healthy diet and school achievements among students. I was PI of the School Meal project in Southern Norway where we found that a free school meal improved dietary habits, constituted an important social arena and reduced social inequalities in diet among students. I am member of a Nordic school meal network (LEARNFOOD).
Later years, my research interest has been in how we can implement evidence-based knowledge in the society at large. The Nutrition Now project involving implementing a pedagogical intervention among kindergarten staff and promoting diet the first 1000 days of life among parents through health care centers, is an example of this.
