Background and experience
My background is in social and cultural anthropology, with an interdisciplinary academic training bridging the social sciences and humanities. Prior to embarking on my PhD, I worked for a number of years in the field of sexual and reproductive rights and abortion access, as well as in the application of qualitative research methods to clinical and implementation research projects in sub-Saharan African contexts.
Areas of responsibility
I am a PhD candidate embedded in the ‘Dual screening by Spectral Artificial Visual Examination (SAVE) for Female Genital Schistosomiasis (FGS) and cervical cancer’ (DUALSAVE-FGS) project. The DUALSAVE-FGS project is a five-year multidisciplinary and multi-country Horizon Europe-funded research project.
Research
My research interests include the political dimensions of health, sexual and reproductive rights, the political economy of global north-south relations, critical global health, bioethics, epistemological diversity - with a focus on notions of the body-mind, healing, disease/illness, (health)care, (bio)medicine and personhood -, ethnographic methods and intersectional feminist theory.
