Computer calculations are used in many areas of mathematics to assist research and learning. In algebraic topology, algebraic methods are used to understand deep geometric structures. An important calculational tool in this area of mathematics is homological algebra, in particular applied to modules over the mod p Steenrod algebra. The software developed in this project is published as a free, open source, addition to the SageMath project (https://www.sagemath.org/) and enables computer assisted calculations of the homological algebra involved in studying finitely presented modules over the mod p Steenrod algebra. In particular it allows for the user to define finitely presented modules over the mod Steenrod algebra, elements of them, and morphisms between them. Methods are provided for doing basic homological algebra, e.g. computing kernels and images of homomorphisms, and finding free resolutions of modules.
