What is the structure of the housing market in the Norwegian cities?

This is the pivotal question of the project on which I was working as the research assistant under the supervision of Prof. Theisen. We were analyzing the structure of the housing market with an attempt to identify - which factors affect the distribution of housing according to different types (detached houses, townhouses, flats)?

The primary goal of the project was to find the explanation and causation link about how following factors can explain these differences in the structure: city size, age structure, income level, types of households.

The research assistance consisted of:
- downloading the municipality-level data using, among other things, Excel;
- converting the data to a convenient format for importing it to the statistical package Stata;
- reorganizing data using Stata, so the resultant files could be merged with other Stata - files which Prof. Theisen use in the research project.

The possibility to work with Prof. Theisen gave me the vital knowledge of the existence of the data sources, ways of acquiring data as well as the sound training in using the statistical package Stata. I convinced, that during this project I learned the critical basis for doing my research and that this foundation will be the essential skill which will accelerate my work on the master thesis.

I am grateful to the Univerisity of Agder, School of Business and Law and Prof. Theisen, for the possibility to contribute to the project, for the acquired attainments and for the implementation of my time and skills in the most efficient manner.
