Tell us about you, what do you study, what are your hobbies...

I come from a small town in Southern Poland and I am second year student of BA in English Studies, into theatre and drama, film,  with an uncanny interest in games, internet culture and Slavic folklore. I love the indoors as much as the outdoors.

Why did you choose Norway?

I have never been to Scandinavia before. In addition, I was successfully tempted by the clean air and a prospect of a real winter for once. 

How was your arrival? What was the first impression of the University?

My arrival was not without adventures, including a now nearly-legendary 3-hour layover in Drammen (I took a train from Torp to Kristiansand), but fortunately the people from ESN were at the station long enough to pick me up. The University stunned me at the first day– the main hall is spacious and well-lit; the fact that there are places to sit makes it more comfortable.

What do you think about the quality of the University and its courses?

I love the amount of workspace for students outside of the classrooms; the seats in the main hall, the group study rooms, there are common spaces even in the canteen. I was surprised by the fact that you can get a fair amount of time for yourself if you study regularly and attend the lectures. Most courses I attend turned out to be both interesting and well conducted – the teachers are open and approachable.

What is your favourite place in Kristiansand? 

So far my favourite place in Kristiansand is the shore, I still need to walk around a bit to give a final answer. Still, I like the sea even in winter, definitely gives off that famous Viking vibe.

Have you planned any trips during your stay? 

Not for now, but I’d like to see Oslo and Bergen. We’ll see what comes up once I settle in.

Opowiedz nam o sobie

„Piękna” dwudziestoletnia z miasteczka w południowej Polsce, II rok licencjatu na anglistyce, hobbystycznie robi w teatrze, tłumaczeniu, trochę w kinie; bardzo żywo zainteresowana grami, internetami i słowiańskim folklorem. Spacery są super, ale siedzenie w pokoju też jest wielce ok.

Dlaczego Norwegia?

Wielka Brytania była akurat niedostępna, a nigdy nie byłam nigdzie w Skandynawii. Ponadto skusiło mnie czyste powietrze i legitna zima. No i przeważyła próżność: jedzenie drogie, łażenia dużo – może wreszcie schudnę. :3

Jak wyglądał twój przyjazd? Jakie wrażenie zrobił na tobie uniwersytet?

Z przygodami, łącznie z prawie legendarną już 3-godzinną przesiadką w Drammen(przyleciałam na Torp i pojechałam do Kristiansand pociągiem). Na szczęście ludzie z ESN byli na stacji na tyle długo, żeby mnie zgarnąć i nie było problemów. Uczelnia na początku trochę mnie przytłoczyła, ale ogólnie wrażenie jest dobre – świetnie, że w głównym holu jest tyle miejsc do siedzenia.

Co myślisz o jakości uczelni i o przedmiotach?

Ilość miejsc do pracy dla studentów poza „klasami” jest super; „grouproomy”, miejsca w holu, można pracować nawet w stołówce. Zaskoczyło mnie, że można tu uczęszczać na wszystkie wykłady i ćwiczenia i dalej mieć sporo czasu dla siebie. Większość „moich” przedmiotów okazała się i ciekawa, i dobrze poprowadzona, a wykładowcy są otwarci i „do pogadania”(szacun dla prof. Apostolosa Spanosa za wysłuchanie i przyjęcie mojej przeintelektualizowanej paplaniny nt. CAH).

Masz jakieś ulubione miejsce w Kristiansand? 

Na razie plaża i nabrzeże, musiałabym się jeszcze trochę rozejrzeć. Morze mi się podoba nawet w zimie, definitywnie czuć tę słynną wikińską atmosferę.

Myślisz o jakichś wycieczkach w trakcie pobytu tutaj? Jak tak, to gdzie?

Na razie nie, ale chciałabym zobaczyć Oslo i Bergen. Zobaczymy, co mi z tego wyjdzie.
