Pooja Joshi from India

Master in International Business

Please introduce yourself.

My name is Pooja Joshi, I am from India. I am a student at the Master in International Business at UiA.

Why did you choose Norway?

I did a lot of research before beginning my Masters' studies in the field of business studies in Europe. Scandinavian countries, especially Norway, appealed to me. Norway offers a very diverse, student-friendly, and competitive, education environment. Moreover, Norwegian universities offer abundant resources to students in terms of study facilities, peer connections, and excellent infrastructure.

When looking at universities, what stood out about UiA?

During my search for universities, I considered university as a whole, the ranking of the business school, and the alumni network. The School of Business and Law at UiA has excellent educators and researchers, who are trained from the worlds' best universities. In addition, UiA has AACBS accreditation, which is given to the best business schools in the world.

What were your first impressions upon arrival?

Great! UiA offers amazing student-oriented activities at the beginning of the semester. These activities help students make friends and develop a feeling of collaborative work. The buddy program gave us a tour of the campus, which was very helpful. Campus Kristiansand is beautiful.

What do you think about your course in particular?

The Master in International Business incorporates all the subjects needed to work in any international company. Moreover, the courses do not entirely rely on textbook knowledge. Along with the studies, courses cover the latest business trends and help us to understand the greater objective of businesses and organisations. For instance, in one of the courses, we are studying the business impacts of virtual reality technology. In another example, we are studying the business decision process through simulations. This course is extremely competitive and equips students with 20th-century businesses strategies and practices. We also learn that how businesses are being transformed given the change in todays' technological developments.

What do you like about Kristiansand and why?

Kristiansand is a very vibrant and student-friendly city, with all the necessary infrastructure. The city has great connectivity with major cities in Norway. Moreover, the people and culture are simply amazing.

What was one thing you discovered about Norway that was unexpected?

Norway is a beautiful country. I come from arid or semi-arid climatic conditions in India. The weather during the winter was quite unexpected to me, especially the slippery conditions. However, I am looking forward to adapting myself and enjoy the climate.
