Admission to UiA is highly competitive. Approximately 5 % of international applicants are admitted to our master's degree programmes. You should only apply if all admission requirements are met. UiA will not process incomplete applications.
Make sure you have thoroughly read the following prior to submitting your application.

The University of Agder does not provide any grants or scholarships.
It is not required that you document your financial ability. However, if you are going to stay in Norway for more than three months, you must register.
Upload proof of funding when submitting your application. The required amount documents your financial ability, which is necessary for applying for a study permit, and will cover accommodation expenses for one year.
The amount you must provide is NOK 116 369 (the amount may be subject to change).
We accept the following documentation:
Admitted students must be prepared to transfer the required amount to a bank account set up by the university by mid-May. Failing to do so will result in withdrawal of the offer of a study place at UiA.
As soon as the amount is transferred, you will receive a "statement of deposit" that must be included in the application for a study permit.
When arriving at the University, you need to complete the following steps in order to get the money transferred to your account:
This process may take some time, so please note that you must have access to additional funds to pay for accommodation expenses for the first two months of your stay.
To be eligible for admission to a master's programme:
Check the required length of study depending on which country you come from (three to five years of higher education) and which education documents are required in the Country list.
There are certain documentation requirements, such as verification reports, for applicants from some countries. See if this applies to you in the Country list.
In addition to the basic admission requirements, each programme has a specific admission requirement.
This means that you must have the academic specialisation as defined in the Supplementary regulations.
Applicants will not be considered unless they fulfil the specific requirement.
Non-native English speakers must document their English proficiency by completing and passing an English language test. Check if this applies to you here.

Note that applicants from certain Asian and eastern European countries (for example Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Vietnam, China, Iran and more) with a bachelor's degree and/or a master's degree from their home country where the language of instruction has been English, are not exempt from the English language requirements.
The English language requirements are set by the Norwegian Agency for Quality Assurance in Education and the University Board at the University of Agder.
Most of our master's programmes are taught in Norwegian and require the applicants to fulfil both the Norwegian and the English language requirements. You will find more information about the Norwegian language requirements here.

Please upload all documents and make sure that your appplication is complete when you apply. Incomplete applications will not be concidered. However, if you are finishing a degree or if you are taking an English language test, the final post mark date/deadline for uploading documents is 1 December.

UiA does not accept or cooperate with foreign recruiting agents.
Upload all pages of diploma and transcripts, both front and back.
All documents must be translated (unless in English, Norwegian or a Scandinavian language). The translation should be carried out by a government authorized or official translator. You must upload a scanned version of the original document accompanied by the translation.
The University of Agder can ask to see your original documentation for the purpose of inspection when you arrive. Remember to bring the originals of all the documents you uploaded to semester start!
Log in to your online application. Tick "My Documents" at the top of the page. You must upload all documents when you apply. Incomplete applications will not be considered.
