Literary texts of different genres from the German speaking countries
Literary history, cultural and general historical overview and background
Literary analysis of modern literature in German
Introduction to basic principles of academic writing
Teaching methods
Lectures, seminars and oral exercises. The language of instruction is German. Regular attendance to the teaching is recommended. Students are invited to hand in and receive comments on written assignments throughout the semester.
For students attending the Master's programme for secondary education teachers, supervised professional training is included.
Examination requirements
All students must submit two work requirements, which must be assessed as a Pass. These work requirements are described in more detail in the term-plan.
One obligatory written assignment of approx. 700 words must be assessed as a Pass. This assignment is not obligatory for students in the Master`s programme for secondary education teachers.
For students in the Master's programme for secondary education teachers, the following examination requirements apply: The supervised professional training is assessed as a Pass.
Assessment methods and criteria
An oral examination (ca. 30 minutes). Graded assessment.
Evaluation
The person responsible for the course, in consultation with the student representative, decides the method of evaluation and whether the courses will have a midterm- or end of term evaluation, see also the Quality System, section 4.1.
