• has knowledge of the structure and sound system of the Spanish language
• has knowledge of culture, way of life and linguistic variations in the target language areas

• has in-depth knowledge of the Curriculum in Foreign Languages, the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages and other relevant governance documents
• knows research and development work relevant to the foreign language subject in the 8th-10th grade.
Skills
The student
• can communicate orally and in writing in Spanish, and freely use central language structures and a varied vocabulary in different social situations
• can understand fictional and other authentic texts in different genres and make use of different understanding and interpretation strategies
• have developed their own intercultural understanding and can facilitate students' development of intercultural understanding
• can stimulate and guide the pupils to the production of different types of texts adapted to different purposes
• can plan and apply different ways of working that promote exploration, curiosity and creativity in Spanish and in an interdisciplinary perspective adapted to steps 8-10
• can use on-the-go assessment to motivate students in their language learning
General competence

Foreign languages are a language subject, a cultural subject and literary subjects. Foreign languages in teacher education are about acquiring good language skills in order to act as a role model for the pupils, in addition to being able to facilitate the pupils' language learning. Particular work is therefore being done on the development of communicative skills and good language learning strategies.
The subject in practice
In practice, the students will plan and carry out teaching in Spanish with a particular focus on teaching programmes related to the pupils' digital skills and the use of authentic texts. Students will also gain experience with on-the-go assessment and providing feedback to the students.
Primary and lower secondary teacher students must have:
• Passed practice
•Approved portfolio of compulsory activities and assignments (described in more detail in the semester plan)
• Approved compulsory attendance (including joint meetings)
Students taking free standing courses must have:
• Passed didactic work
