The course requires previous knowledge of Spanish equivalent to level 2 from upper secondary school and level B1 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. It is recommended to have completed SPA116, Literature and Culture 1. It will be very laborious to follow the course without prior knowledge.

Lectures, seminars, workshops, and groups. Student active methods and the use of digital tools for learning will be applied. For students in the advanced teacher education, levels 8 to 13, there will be a period with professionally supervised teaching experience. Student-active participation in practical exercises is necessary for the development of good language proficiency, thus, there is a mandatory attendance requirement. The workload is estimated at 400 hours.
A portfolio with mandatory activities must be assessed as a pass. The activities will be described in the semester plan.

Students in the advanced teacher education: The professionally supervised teaching practice must be completed and approved.
All other students: A project work must be assessed as a pass.
A four-hour individual written examination under surveillence (50%)
