Has knowledge about the characteristics of good class leaders and reflects on the importance of communication, collaboration and relation work for learning
Has thorough knowledge about the content and responsibilities of the role of the contact teacher, as well as its importance for the pupils’ learning
Has theoretical and didactic knowledge about his/her selected subjects
Skills
The student
Has the ability to use national and local frameworks in the planning of teaching
Is able to implement, alone and in collaboration with others, teaching in the selected subjects, focusing on class management, professional expertise, basic skills and assessment for learning
Facilitates to enhance the pupils’ digital competence and use in the selected subjects
Is able to discuss teaching and learning based on a professional ethics perspective, relevant theories and research
Shows good communication skills (professionally and socially) through supervision and relation building conversations with the pupils

The student

Contributes actively in the supervision and assessment of his/her own and the fellow students’ practice in a way that enhances development and learning
The subject in the practice placement
Each semester the student selects one or more specialization subjects. Special learning outcomes related to the practice placement emphasize the characteristics of selected subject(s) (work methods etc.) in the practice period.
Course contents
Pupil and pupil diversity. Responsibilities related to the role of contact teacher and class management with focus on basic skills and assessment for learning.
Teaching methods
During the practice placement the student is part of a team of fellow-students professionally mentored by a practice supervisor. Practice placement in the 1st year focus on observation as method for reflection and learning. The student shall together with his/her fellow-students work at preparation of teaching and training skills in various teaching situations. This implies work methods like individual preparation, observation, participation in tutorials, planning, implementing and evaluating/assessing teaching in a practice group. The student shall also participate in the school’s other activities.
The practice period is 20 days.
Assessment methods and criteria
After the practice period the student gets an individual, written pass/fail assessment. The student must meet the 100 % attendance requirement in the practice placement in order to get a pass. The assessment of the student is based on the learning outcome description. The student must present the assessment report to the practice supervisor before the next practice period.
Evaluation
The person responsible for the course, in consultation with the student representative, decides the method of evaluation and whether the courses will have a midterm- or end of term evaluation, see also the Quality System, section 4.1.
