The objective of the course is to introduce the subject of innovation in the public sector. The public sector is facing significant innovative pressure, although it differs in many ways from the private sector with its complexity. Innovation processes in this sector will, therefore, involve several various actors.
This course focuses on how innovation processes can be designed as co-created learning processes to create a common understanding of challenges and how to face them collectively. The course contains an introduction to collaborative methods based on Action Research Methodology. The students will work process orientated when approaching different disciplines and professions.
A combination of teaching, group work, seminars / workshops and presentations in connection with the work on innovation / analysis projects. Students are divided into groups of 4-5 in each group. Further information will be provided in Canvas. The course has an expected workload of 200 hours.
Attendance is compulsory in both lectures and group assignements.
Assessment methods and criteria
The form of assessment is two-part with the following partial exams:
Oral group presentation counting 40%. Overall grade is given to the group.
Individual written paper counting 60% of the grade. More information is available in Canvas. Letter grades.
The study programme manager, in consultation with the student representative, decides the method of evaluation and whether the courses will have a midterm- or end of term evaluation, see also the Quality System, section 4.1. Information about evaluation method for the course will be posted on Canvas.
