The course provides an introduction to key concepts, approaches and theoretical approaches in innovation theory. The course covers:
the concept of innovation and different models of how innovation activity is carried out
organization of innovation in firms
theories of innovation systems
how innovation affects economic development
innovation and grand social challenges
characteristics of the ‘Norwegian innovation mode’
Lectures, seminars, case studies with two assignments, discussions/seminars. There will be field trips to companies or organisations.
Assessment methods and criteria
One group based (40%) and one individual paper (60%).
The study programme manager, in consultation with the student representative, decides the method of evaluation and whether the courses will have a midterm- or end of term evaluation, see also the Quality System, section 4.1.
