After completing the course, the student should:
have acquired basic harmonic and /or rhythmic understanding related to the chosen instrument
obtain an overview of different soundscapes the instrument can create and interact with
be able to use the instrument to compose and arrange
have insight into how to use the instrument in different music areas
In the course, the student chooses an instrument that complements the main area. The student applies the instrument based on needs related to performance, composition or music production. Technical understanding of the chosen instrument is central, and the student is introduced to the instrument's uniqueness and possibilities, especially linked to their own practice.
The course emphasizes the practice of an optional instrument II. The students work with the instrument in connection with their own expression, practice and compositional activities and emphasize the harmonious and sonic uniqueness of the instrument.
The student is taught on an optional instrument. Teaching in the course is provided individually or, if appropriate, in groups.
Parts of the teaching are compulsory. These parts are presented in Canvas at the beginning of the semester.
Expected work scope is 27 hours per credits.
Approved attendance for compulsory classes.
Further information is provided in Canvas at the start of the semester.
