Learning outcomes
Upon completion of the course, students shall:
be able to apply general music theory within aural training as a discipline
be able to repeat rhythms on the student’s main instrument, both orally and written
be able to repeat melodies on the student’s main instrument, both orally and written
be able to apply functional harmony
Course contents
Course includes:
exercises in musical intervals
auditive analysis – focus on listening to and analysing smaller musical components
work with coordinating different rhythmic patterns
tonal sight reading and playing – for one voice alone and in combination with a second voice
written dictations of melody, rhythm and harmony
functional harmony
Teaching methods
The course is conducted through group lessons. Attending the lessons is compulsory. Expected workload for an average student is 27 hours per credit.

Assessment methods and criteria
1 hour individual written exam. Weighting: 50%
Individual oral exam related to the student’s instrument. Weighting: 50%

Evaluation
The person responsible for the course, in consultation with the student representative, decides the method of evaluation and whether the courses will have a midterm- or end of term evaluation, see also the Quality System, section 4.1.
