BIO 109 or 110 and BIO104 or ML-112 or
ML-114 Fysiologi, anatomi og histologi, KJ-1115 Kjemi – grunnlag for biokjemisk analyse. Alle arbeidskrav i emnene ML-115 Cellebiologi med biokjemi og ML-210 Hematologi og immunologi må være bestått.

Learning outcomes
On completion of the course the students shall
know the basic theoretical and practical concepts in general patology
describe pathological processes on different levels in the body
distinguish pathological changes from healty cells and tissue
in microscope distinguish between cells and tissue from healthy samples and samples with disease
have the knowledge about how and why use different cytological and histological techniques to make a diagnosis
Be able to perform sectioning of paraffin embedded tissue for light microscopy
Course contents
The course provides general pathology, cytology and histology
Teaching methods
Instruction is comprised of lectures, laboratory exercises and group work. It is compulsory to take part in the laboratory exercises and group work.
Examination requirements
All compulsory assignments must have obtained a Pass.
Assessment methods and criteria
A 4-hour individual written examination under supervision. Graded assessment.
Evaluation
The study programme manager, in consultation with the student representative, decides the method of evaluation and whether the courses will have a midterm- or end of term evaluation, see also the Quality System, section 4.1.
