This course is taught in English if English-speaking students attend
ME-418 Philosophy of Science
Upon successful completion of the course, students will have:
knowledge about strenghts and weaknesses in different research designs
developed skills in critical assessment of different research designs
insight into the different parts of the research process
competence in the disseminating scientific knowledge
The course will introduce the students to different types of qualitative and quantitative research methods. Emphasis will be on the theoretical foundation of the methods and practical approches in the field of health and sport sciences.

Qualitative and quantitative research design
The research process
Expected student workload in this course is approximately 135 hours.
Assessment methods and criteria
A two-hour individual multiple choice exam (school exam). Graded as Pass/Fail.
The person responsible for the course decides, in consultation with the student representative, the method of evaluation and whether the course will have a midterm- or end of term evaluation, see also the Quality System, section 4.1.
