On successful completion of the course, the student should:
Introduction to mathematics didactic research especially relevant for mathematics teaching on grades 5-10. The course includes key aspects of learning and teaching mathematics. Learning theories, learning resources and teaching resources are central. Different ways of teaching, different types of tasks and digital tools are also a central part of the course. The course includes the development of a project on mathematics education in connection with the school.
The subject in practice
In practice, the student will gain experience in the use of various mathematical activities and teaching resources in mathematics and student-active teaching methods where the student will gain experience with different forms of assessment. In the project assignment, the student will do a research or development work where a chosen topic in mathematics is studied, analysed and discussed. The outcomes and insights are communicated orally and in writing.
Joint teaching, work in small groups and supervised work with project work.
Requirements for minimum 70% compulsory participation.
It is included 25 days of teaching practice.
The course has an expected scope of work of 400 hours, where 100 hours is associated with the teaching practice. Other students will perform a didactic work of similar scope as practice.
