have insight into development work in artistic practice
have the terminology to be able to reflect upon their own artistic work, in light of aesthetic theory and practice, as well as other things
be able to create an artistic product in a dissemination context
The course contains a concentration in artistic practice. In this context, "artistic" is understood to mean creative and reflective activities in or across the fine art subjects. The course emphasizes artistic development work and reflections upon this in terms of academic-theoretical questions in aesthetics and dissemination.
Teaching methods and workload
The course is centred upon students' artistic work and development and is primarily student-initiated, with advisement from the teacher. The work can be undertaken individually or in groups of up to three students. A plan for execution will be made, with descriptions of the individual parts of the process. Requirements for supervision, workshops, room bookings, etc. will be agreed upon by the students and teacher at the start of the course. The course also contains individual seminars and lectures connected to aesthetic theory.
Students submit a concept description of about 5 pages. This will outline the work's artistic concept, dissemination concept and methodological approaches as well as include reflections upon the work process and connection to aesthetical theory.
Assessment methods and criteria
The student holds a concert, performance or exhibition, or completes another type of artistic production.
The artistic work will be performed or presented, either individually or in groups. The presentation will reflect both artistic development and an awareness of dissemination. Individual assessment. Makes up 60% of the grade.
An individual oral examination follows the presentation, based on the submitted concept descriptions and presented work. Makes up 40% of the grade.
The study programme manager, in consultation with the student representative, decides the method of evaluation and whether the courses will have a midterm- or end of term evaluation, see also the Quality System, section 4.1. Information about evaluation method for the course will be posted on Canvas.
