Learning outcomes
Upon completion of the course, the student shall:
be able to clarify terms related to theory regarding visual culture and aesthetics
be able to analyze and discuss issues related to visual culture
be able to assess various types of objects or projects related to aesthetic and communicative aspects, amongst others, where formal, material and elements of content are included
be able to develop and reflect on individual expressions or projects based on an explorative approach to relevant and contemporary themes
Course contents
The course emphasizes photography, video and screen-based mediation, which will be tools used to work on documentation and production within the specific subjects being covered. Theory on visual culture and aesthetics is an integrated part of the course.
Teaching methods
The work will be done both individually and in groups and will be both practical and theoretical. Part of the work is organized into projects. Teaching will consist of workshops, trials, lectures, seminars and supervision. The learning will integrate both practical and theoretical approaches to various relevant themes.
It is mandatory to be present in all teaching situations and counselling. More information will be available on Canvas at the start of the semester.
The expected workload is 27 hours per credit.

Assessment methods and criteria
An individual home exam lasting eight days.
The exam consists of a written assignment and a practical-aesthetic project. The written assignment is approximately 2000 words and through the attached photograph must document the practical aesthetic.
Grade: Lettered grade
Evaluation
The stydy programme manager, in consultation with the student representative, decides the method of evaluation and whether the courses will have a midterm- or end of term evaluation, see also the Quality System, section 4.1.
