The course requires an introductory course in project work/project management equivalent to IS-304 Bachelor Thesis in Information Systems
Learning outcomes
Upon successful completion of the course, students will:
Demonstrate skills in leading and managing IS projects.
Develop an understanding of different IS lifecycles and governance arrangements especially related to emerging types of IS including AI and interorganisational information infrastructures.
Have the ability to analyse and relate projects to their organisational context and identify organisational influences (culture & structure).
Have knowledge of adaptive and predictive project management approaches and techniques for managing scope, time, cost, human resources, quality, risk and procurement.
Develop their ability to reflect over own project work and suggest improvements
Course contents
Project characteristics in an Information Systems context
The Project Manager´s role
Organization types and coordination mechanisms in organizations.
Initiating, planning, executing, monitoring/controlling and closing projects.
Managing scope, time, cost, human resources, quality, risk and procurement.
Teaching methods
Organized teaching is usually given as seminars with lectures, case studies and student presentations. Some of the teaching is compulsory, announced at semester start. Normal workload for 10 ECTS is 13 hours per week.
Examination requirements
Passed mandatory assignments and mandatory participation in presentations.
Assessment methods and criteria
3 hours written examination that counts 60% and project report that accounts for 40% of the final grade. Both parts must be passed.
Evaluation
The person responsible for the course, in consultation with the student representative, decides the method of evaluation and whether the courses will have a midterm- or end of term evaluation, see also the Quality System, section 4.1.
