Recommended prerequisites
Instruction is a continuation of courses in the first year of the Bachelor programme in IT and information systems.
Learning outcomes
Upon successful completion of the course, the students will be able to:
Structure and write reports
Present subject-related topics in a structured, logical and orderly manner, both in writing and orally
Participate in group work in a productive way
Participate in systems development projects with a clear understanding of goals
Use tools that promote communication, collaboration and resource sharing in a system development project
Reflect over one’s work practice
Course contents
The course emphasizes active communication training, both orally and in writing, through individual and group activities with discussion and co-creation of texts and other communication media. Students will receive training in collaborating through creating reports and conducting practical exercises.
Teaching methods
The course contains lectures and practical work. The practical work focuses on co-creation, collaboration and communication using a case in a project framework. The course will facilitate a problem-based and project-oriented learning environment. Students will be able to learn through problem solving, supervision, presentations and lectures.
The learning environment for the practical part of the course is important and the students will be divided into groups for a closer follow-up. Focus will be on teamwork and improvement of communication skills.
Note that standard workload for 10 ECTS is 13 hours per week per student.
Examination requirements
Approved mandatory assignments and 80 % participation in compulsory group work. Information will be given in Canvas at semester start.
Assessment methods and criteria
Report written by the group. Common grade for all participants in the group, mark A-F.
Evaluation
The person responsible for the course decides, in cooperation with student representative, the form of student evaluation and whether the course is to have a midway or end of course evaluation in accordance with the quality system for education, chapter 4.1.
