Master's Programme in Information and Communication Technology (5 years)
Language of instruction
Basic knowledge of data communication and network technologies, corresponding to the course DAT204 Data Communication.
On successful completion of the course, the students should be able to understand and apply
- Modern Internet protocols, - Advanced network communications, and - Performance analysis of Internet protocols/services
Review of TCP/IPv4 services, protocols and routing. IPv6 basics, IPv6 essential functions and services, and mobile IPv6. Internet telephony and protocols. Multiprotocol label switching. Network management and software defined network, Quality of Service. Performance evaluations (via Markov chain and network simulations).
Lectures, group assignments, supervised written assignments, and self-study.
The work load for the average student is approximately 200 hours.
Students must pass the compulsory assignments in order to take the examination. An overview of the compulsory assignments will be given in LMS at the start of the semester.
Assessment methods and criteria
Written examination, 4 hours. Graded assessment.
The study programme manager, in consultation with the student representative, decides the method of evaluation and whether the courses will have a midterm- or end of term evaluation, see also the Quality System, section 4.1. Information about evaluation method for the course will be posted on Canvas.
