Learning outcomes
On successful completion of the course, the candidate:
Knowledge
will have insight and understanding of health behavior theories and models.
Will have in-depth knowledge of various determinants of health behaviors.
Will have in-depth knowledge of important factors related to development, implementation and evaluation of intervention studies and health promotion programmes.
Skills
can formulate research questions, develop, implement and evaluate lifestyle change/disease prevention interventions based on a foundation of theoretical, empirical and practical information.
can critically analyse and evaluate national and international health promotion programmes.
General competences
can critically evaluate health promotion interventions and programmes at the personal, organizational, social and political levels to improving or protecting health
are able to communicate the results of health promotion research and development work through recognized national and international channels, and participate in debates in the field in relevant forums.
Course contents
The content will be focused on the following contexts and topics:
National and international implementation of health promoting programmes
Evaluation of health promoting programmes
Teaching methods
This course unit will be taught over 5 days course program and an essay. The teaching and learning methods that will be used includes a combination of lectures, group work, individual counseling and presentations based on the lecture topics and the candidates own ongoing research work. All available support is allowed.
Examination requirements
The course days, group work, presentations and essay are obligatory.
Assessment methods and criteria
The final assignment is a written summary (3000 words) and a 45 minutes oral presentation. The summary and presentation will focus on a self-chosen behavior related to the course content. The written summary and oral presentation will be graded as pass or fail.
