Admission may also be considered based on real competence.
The post-graduate certificate in education at the University of Agder provides students with a research-based education, allowing them to develop solid knowledge and skills related to the practice of their profession. The vocational subjects in the students' professional background, in combination with pedagogy, vocational didactics and practical experience, provides a broad, coherent, vocationally oriented teacher education.
This education is designed to ensure the candidates' ability to further develop the school as an institution for learning and formative education in a democratic society. The education aims to accommodate perspectives related to gender equality and the multicultural society, as well as to create understanding for a school that is for everyone, regardless of the pupils' qualifications and social, cultural and language background.
The academic content of the education is organised into two courses:
Within each course, vocational didactics, pedagogy and practical training are linked, in terms of both content and organisation. Practical training is an integrated, supervised and evaluated part of the education. Teaching practice accounts for 60 days, distributed over two years.
