IT and Information Systems, 1-year Programme

Admission requirements

University admission certification/completion of general upper-secondary education.

Recommended previous knowledge

Students must be prepared for some courses being taught in English.

General description and profile

Students will acquire a basic understanding and knowledge of how ICT and information systems can be developed, applied and utilised in organisations. The students will learn to see the potential of IT support and contribute to the realisation of this potential through participation in development projects

TFL102 IT and social change 10 ECTS

If you are considering applying to our bachelor program, via the internal admission process, you will in the second semester need to take the same courses that are compulsory as a part of the second semester in the bachelor's program in IT and information systems. For the academic year 2023/2024, these subjects are; IS-105, IS-110, BE-107 and ORG110. Contact the Student Adviser for more information about this.

Learning outcome

Upon successful completion of this study programme, the candidate will be able to understand the potential of ICT and contribute to realizing these through participation in various development projects.

Teaching methods

A variety of different teaching methods are used: lectures, seminars, group work, group exercises and individual computer lab work. There will also be assignments (individual or in groups). Teamwork is highly emphasized during the study programme, and group-work will be compulsory in most of the courses.

Normally, approved mandatory assignments and/or project reports are required before taking the examination.

Internationalization

Student exchange is not feasible in one-year programmes.

Occupational profiles / further studies

The programme qualifies for further studies in the three-year Bachelor's Degree Programme in IT and Information Systems at the University of Agder, Kristiansand.

The programme may be combined with other programmes. It may also be included as a 60-credit component in a self-composed Bachelor's degree.

Evaluation

Study programme evaluation is conducted annually in the programme committee in accordance with the Quality System, section 4.2. Before the meeting of the study programme committee, the student representative may obtain suggestions and ideas from fellow students

Other information

All students at UiA are required to have their own laptop for use in teaching and examinations, cf. regulations on studies and examinations at the University of Agder § 12d.
