Language skills equivalent to level 2 in upper secondary school (general studies branch) are recommended. A language course or a stay in France is also recommended. It will be very demanding to follow the programme without any previous knowledge.
This is a two-semester programme, autumn and spring, and it includes a 5-week stay in Caen, France, in January/February. The programme contains 5 courses, 3 of 10 ECTS credits each in the autumn semester, and 2 of 15 ECTS credits each in the spring. The stay in France in January/February and the related project work, are included in the course FR-124-1 French Literature and Culture 2.
The course promotes competence with relevance for several UN sustainable development goals, for example:
The culture part gives an introduction to and insight in the function and structure of institutions. In the literature part the students work with texts discussing themes like gender and social class, and all the courses in the programme contribute to a greater awareness of the social role of language.
