Dataset on the Microfinance Industry

Rating assessments of microfinance institutions are claimed to measure a combination of creditworthiness, trustworthiness and excellence in microfinance. “Beisland and Mersland”.

In our opinion, it is crucial that rating agencies progress in the development of social ratings, as a complement of financial ratings. In a whole, they both streamline the activities of microfinance institutions towards their mission of reducing poverty and hence mars mission drift.

A dataset from the Microfinance industry that includes more than 250 hundred variables from up to 15 financial years have been extracted from the rated reports. The inputting of the data was basically done for new reports on exsisting Microfinance Institutions and well as new institutions were added as when they are discovered.Dissemination is an important component of the research process. Great effort and time goes into conducting research. Research work is valuable and can transform lives but only if the findings of research are widely shared with those that can influence policy and practice.

Microfinancing

While most MFIs remain as NGOs and dependent on donors, several have begun to transform into banks or non-bank financial institutions (NBFIs). This transformation process includes moving to a shareholder ownership structure, and in most cases, it also includes regulation by banking authorities in the country. Thus, it is of upmost importance to track all these transformed banks and financial institution, to provide up to date information to researchers and academician.

Thermo_Print

Considering that more than 60 % of energy produced is wasted as heat, new methods for harvesting energy is important for the future. The Thermo_Print Project researches the amount of energy that the body produces in a heat flux. When we can measure the flux we can use it as a signal to drive processes. In the future pacemakers and other devices might be driven by the body itself. The Thermo_Print Project utilizes the Seebeck effect, together with negative feedback loops to drive small systems. The motivation for this project is to control small motors, like a small fan, LED-lights amongst some, in an art installation, where the prime mover is the person in the installation. The purpose and goal is to instigate a discussion around the boarders of human and machine.

Nasjonale Turistveier

Data collection for the extent and characteristics of personalised aid in the Norwegian society

This project focused on collecting quantitative data on personalised aid initiatives in Norway, as part of Hanne Haaland and Hege Wallevik’s wider and ongoing research on the concept. Personalised aid, or homemade aid, is typically characterised by individuals that engage in smaller development projects in the south. The initiators choose to engage directly and often rather immediately instead of supporting the more established NGOs. For this project, I retrieved information on localised and personalised projects through systemised searches in Atekst retriever; an interactive collection of printed local and national newspapers. The goal was to establish a better idea on the scope and extent of personalised aid.

Integration is not something we can plant from somewhere in the society, it should arise from the society. Therefore, community based organisations have more potentials do to effective refugee integration. local community based organizations (CBO’s) has major role to play in refugee integration process because the successful integration process should be a bottom-up plan.
