The firsts thing you do is to download the app for two-step authentication from App Store or Google Play on your mobile phone.
When the app is finished downloaded on your phone – open the app and press “Add account” – press “Jobb- or skolekonto”/”Job- or school account”. A Camera will appear on your phone that says “Scann QR-kode”.
On you PC – login to the website https://aka.ms/mfasetup with your uia user credentials. This is your Microsoft Security info website.
On the website you choose “+ Add method” – choose “Authenticator app” and press Add – press Next – press Next – and a QR code will appear on your PC screen.
Take your mobile phone and scan the QR kode with the QR code camera from the Microsoft Authenticator app.
Press next on your computer. A test will now be sent from your PC to your mobile phone, and you need to press “Accept” on the popup on your mobile phone.
On your PC it will state “Notification approved” – press Next and a message will appear in right corner saying that “Microsoft Authenticator app was registered”.
To make Microsoft Authenticator the default login method for authentication, make sure that the security information page (https://aka.ms/mfasetup) says Microsoft Authenticator under “Default sign-in method” at the top of the page. If not, select “Change” and select “Microsoft Authenticator – notification”.
If you are unable to log on through your authentication method(s), contact UiA Help with valid ID at hand.
If you have a Norwegian D-number (11 digits), you can reset your two-factor authentication on the button below. Log into the form in the top corner through ID-porten.
What is two-factor authentication? Two-factor authentication is an additional level of security together with username and password.
It can be compared to a door that has two locks, one key lock and one codelock, where you must have both the key and the code to open the door.
Even if the key (password) should be lost, unauthorized persons will not be able to open the door without having the code.
Why two-factor authentication? Two-factor authentication makes your data considerably less vulnerable to identity theft.
All employees at UiA have had a mandatory two-factor login since autumn 2019.
How often do you have to log in? You don't have to log in with two-factor authentication every time. Once logged in, there can be a duration of 30 days per service.
