Important information about exchange and Study Abroad in the Fall semester 2021
It is possible to apply for exchange in the Fall semester 2021. We hope many get to experience a semester or a full year abroad.
The Corona pandemic still makes it hard to predict the development in our societies and institutions the next several months. Many countries will keep their borders open, and welcome travellers and international students. Other countries have closed their borders. As per January 2021, this is the case in both Australia and New Zealand, and it is likely that this will be the status for some time still. Based on recommendations from our partner institutions, we have concluded that exchange and Study Abroad in Australia and New Zealand will not be possible before 2022 at the earliest.
Partner universities may cancel mobility for outgoing and incoming students, even in cases where the national borders are open. Regular face to face lecturing can be altered to online lecturing on short notice
The picture we see in January 2021 may change significantly by semester start in July / August / September, in Norway, and the world at large.
We update the information on our partner institutions to the extent possible. We recommend that everybody pay attention to the Foreign Office’s advice on Travel , as well as national travel regulations in the county you wish to visit.
Please note that you are personally responsible for buying the necessary insurances for the duration of your stay abroad. UiA will not cover any financial loss that you may experience, and that is not covered by your insurance. You must relate to and respect advice from Norwegian as well as local authorities while abroad. We recommend that you contact ANSA for information about insurance, as well as support for Norwegian students abroad.
You may list up to 5 institutions in prioritized order in your application for exchange / Study Abroad. Should your planned study experience be impaired by the pandemic, we will attempt to find alternative solutions, even after the application deadline.
As the situation world wide is still uncertain and unpredictable, it is essential that everyone applying for exchange / Study Abroad also has a Plan B for the Fall semester.
Who can apply?
All students who are enrolled in a degree programme at UiA are entitled to apply for exchange / Study Abroad. The exchange period may be one or two semesters, and will be recognized as an integrated part of your degree from UiA.
You need to have earned minimum 60 credits from UiA before going on exchange. Check the ECTS course catalogue for details regarding exchange at your specific study programme.
Please note that you have not yet applied to the actual institution abroad. You will receive a reply to your application around 3 weeks after the application deadline. If selected, you will be informed on how to apply to the host institution. The information will be sent to your ‘stud.uia’ address.
