Registration deadlines are September 1st for the autumn semester and February 1st for the spring semester.
You must pay the semester fee and confirm your Education plan on StudentWeb within this deadline. Note: The registrations are not valid until you have paid the semester fee (please allow for a couple of days before the semester fee is registered at the university).
When you confirm your education plan on Studentweb, you should automatically be registered for all the obligatory courses in your plan for that particular semester. However, if you have any elective courses, you will probably need to register for these separately. And if you want to take any postponed examinations, you need to add these separately as well.
In order to check that you are in fact registered for all the exams you want to take, check Studentweb at <Registrations> - <Exam registrations> to see that you've been registered properly (both for class and the exam).
If you are taking a course which runs for more than one semester, the registration for the exam will usually be generated in the last semester.
How to add courses on Studentweb
Choose <Registrations/Registrations for classes and exams> in StudentWeb. Click <Add new course> and search till you find the course you wish to register for. You may search using the course code, course name, subject or faculty (course codes may appear with a number or the letter G - a number indicates that it is a course taught in Kristiansand and a G indicates that the course is taught in Grimstad).
Once you have located the course you were searching for, select it and click <Add selected course>. Make sure that you have chosen Exam registration, and click <Save>. If you have difficulties registering for the exams on Studentweb, you can hand in a registration form at Servicetorget.
Courses outside your education plan
If you would like to take courses that are not in your study program, you must apply for these on Søknadsweb. Please find more information about application dates and which courses you may apply for here.
Number of examination attempts
According to the Examination Rules a student cannot appear for an examination in the same course more than three times ( courses with the same academic content are considered to be the same course). This also applies if you have been readmitted to the same study program. Students may be granted a fourth attempt only in special circumstances.
Note that if you retake an ordinary examination, the syllabus and the form of assessment for that particular semester will apply.
When a course is no longer offered, there may be arranged two extraordinary examinations but no further opportunities to retake an examination in that particular course.
Can I retake courses after completing my study programme?
If you have completed your study program but should wish to improve your grade in one or several courses, you may do so within a period of two years after the completion of your study program.
This requires that the course is still offered and that you have not used your three examination attempts. Send an e-mail to the Examination Office if you have questions regarding this.
Note that the diploma which you have been awarded after having completed a degree cannot be altered. Any improved grades will be documented on an ordinary transcript.
