Environmental humanities is a research field that approaches environmental research from a humanities perspectives, while building interdisciplinary research cooperation and knowledge exchange with the nature sciences and the social sciences as well as studies of art and education. By bringing theories, methods and research questions from the humanities into environmental studies environmental humanities seek to develop both a deeper and broader understanding of past, present and future environmental challenges as well as of the complexity of environmental issues involved in the global sustainability goals.
