Guidelines for the use of video when conducting interviews in student assignments
Projects planning to carry out interviews must adhere to the applicable guidelines from the Norwegian Institute of Public Health with regards to social distancing and quarantine rules when doing interviews in person.
These may change at short notice, and project planning should consider how best to avoid project delays in the event of any changes to the applicable guidelines.
For students working on a private computer, the following applies:
If it is not possible to conduct an interview meeting the informant in person, it will be possible to use Zoom to conduct interviews in low-risk projects with the following limitations:
You are not allowed to record the interview using Zoom. If recordings are required, an audio recorder borrowed from UiA Help must be used, or you can use the application Nettskjema Diktafon. Alternatively, notes can be made from the interview.
It is not allowed to conduct interviews in high-risk projects over Zoom. High-risk projects are projects on topics that include sensitive information.
When conducting higher risk interviews, the interview must be conducted over the phone, and notes taken must be anonymised, or you can use an audio recorder borrowed from UiA Help. Any transcription from the audio recorder must be anonymised, without uploading the audio file to any other device.
Prerequisites for conducting meetings in Zoom:
a. Meeting link must not be shared openly
b. Meeting must be password protected
c. A lobby/waiting room should be used to admit the right persons to the meeting
