“These last days have been very challenging for all of us, and we will do our utmost to make sure that you are being taken care of”, says Rector Sunniva Whittaker in her video greeting to all international UiA students from her home quarantine.
(The video may take some time to load)
Dear international students.
My name is Sunniva Whittaker, and I am the rector at UiA.
These last days have been very challenging for all of us, and maybe in particular for you (as international students) being far from home.
I know that many have left Norway, but some of you have decided to stay. We will do our utmost to make sure you are well taken care of (in this situation).
Our first priority has (obviously) been to secure the health and safety of all our staff and students, in particular those who were abroad (when this (incident) happened).
Our second priority is to make sure that as many students as possible will be able to complete their courses (this spring) and take their exams.
You have had to adapt to a new type of learning situation where everything goes through digital tools. I am sure you have all been in touch with your teachers and study programme leaders. We hope this situation is not too demanding for you.
There is one thing I would like to remind you of, all the information and videos on the Canvas platform can only be used within that platform. They are not to be shared with others.
It is important for us that these rules are accepted.
We all hope this situation will not last too long. It is hard to say, but we will be in touch with you.
If you have any questions, look at the uia.no website for practical information.
Many of you may feel lonely in this situation, I hope you reach out and take care of each other (in this difficult situation). I hope you are as happy as you can be, and we will be in touch again soon.
