Hilde Inntjore (55) and Gøril Hannås (54) will be UiA's vice-rectors for the period 2023-2027.
The University Board at UiA approved the appointments on Wednesday 10 May in accordance with the recommendation of an interview panel led by Rector Sunniva Whittaker.
Since 2020, Hilde Inntjore has been Dean of Teacher Education at UiA and will now be Vice-rector for Education. She has also held administrative positions in UiA's Division of Research Administration and was head of studies for the teacher training programmes. She has a doctorate in history from the University of Bergen from 2018. Her thesis is about the church organisation in the diocese of Stavanger in the period 1250 to 1500.
“Hilde has varied work experience in the sector and a strong commitment to society. She is passionate about research-based education and multidisciplinarity, and with Hilde as vice-rector we will achieve good and strategic development of UiA's programmes,” says Rector Sunniva Whittaker.
Gøril Hannås has held the position of Vice-rector for External Relations and Innovation for the past four years and will continue for another four years. She has previously been an associate professor and head of department at the School of Business and Law at UiA, particularly associated with the master's programme in Industrial Economics and Technology Management. She also has experience from business, including as Director of Risk Management at National Oilwell Norway.
“We are lucky to have Gøril continue working with us, and she is very motivated. The good work done in the first period with a separate vice-rector for external relations and innovation prepares the ground for us to achieve even more in these areas in the coming years”, Whittaker says.
The vice-rectors, together with Rector Sunniva Whittaker and Pro-Rector Hans-Kjetil Lysgård, commence their new terms on 1 August.
It is not currently known who the acting dean of the Teacher Education Unit will be in the autumn semester, until a new dean is in place from 1 January 2024.
